Veining In Surfaces
Veining, or lines within the paving material are natural formations, and are prevalent in some
granite and limestone slabs. They are often mistaken for cracks or fissures in the paving slabs,
and cause distress to the client. They should not be considered defects or flaws, as they do not
affect the strength of the material.
Some veins may not be obvious until they have been laid for a while, and if they do not show
signs of leaching or sulphates appearing along the vein, they should not affect the longevity
of the project.
If they do become a cause of concern for aesthetic reasons, they may be removed and substituted
for another slab, although this process should not be considered a defect in workmanship
unless the project specifically excluded veined slabs
