Paving Site Objective
Welcome to the new Paving Site Online Magazine paving industry resource.
Paving, Flagging, Slabbing, Sett Laying, Mosaics, Tesserae, Tiling, Resin Bound – anything to do with horizontal hard surfaces and their associated works will feature in the pages of the new Paving Site open access website.
With an unequalled history of hard landscaping, and over ninety years of experience between them, Alan and Gareth proudly present a new and innovative resource of information and advice for all involved in the design and construction of hard paved surfaces in the landscaping industry.
Written and presented by award winning authors, Paving Site Online Magazine will make a unique contribution to the Landscape and Paving Industry.

Introduction
During the early part of 2024, Gareth and I held a series of workshops around the country titled Paving In Homes & Gardens, to introduce our new book of the same name. These events attracted ‘Full Houses’ on each occasion. Sadly, it was not possible to arrange further dates and venues to suit everyone. Recognising the enthusiasm amongst professional landscapers and pavers, keen to remain up to date with the latest legislation, regulations, techniques and products, we decided to start an online resource, one which could be maintained and updated on a regular basis and available to everyone.
Working with enthusiastic Industry Leaders, we devised a new approach, forming Paving Site
as a Limited Company and starting to build a new website as a unique resource for everyone involved in all types of hard paved surfaces. These included paving, artificial grass, soil stabilisation and resin surfaces, with advice, information, templates, videos, essays and articles on practical matters including Associates Works.
Without background advice including efficient ‘management’ forming the foundation for all works to ensure smooth running of projects, including preambles and establishment rules which underpin all schemes, no matter how good the information imparted, there remains scope for failure. We will be offering advice on projects from start to finish…
Paving Site Industry Online will address a very wide range of issues, including project design, detail design, specification, site management, rules and regulations, products, techniques, site etiquette, site safety, client management and a host of other subjects, all presented in a unique Magazine style, under various sections and headings.
Also included – we will host a range of videos, YouTube style presentations, supplier and manufacturer advice and training videos, practical demonstrations and recommended working techniques as presented by those firms that have a high standing within the industry, as well as ‘Hints & Tips’ videos presented by Gareth.
We will also look backwards, historically – back to the days of more traditional techniques, demonstrating practical methods used hundred of years ago, working with ‘old fashioned’ hand- tools including chisels and pitchers, using reclaimed and recycled materials as in the days before power tools.
As Expert Witnesses, Gareth and I see many, many projects that have failed for various reasons each year. We have a comprehensive catalogue of redacted material we can show to demonstrate how not to construct hard landscaping schemes, with each image worth a thousand words!
