Moisture Transparency
The term ‘moisture transparency’ is used to describe the colour variations in paving, especially seen in natural granite and sawn products (sawn six sides) appearing as lighter or darker areas on the stone surface, not necessarily after it has rained.
This is likely to be moisture being drawn up through the slabs, manifesting at different levels of moisture content across the unit. If the product has been laid correctly, with a full mortar bed, slurried and secured, the problem should resolve itself as it dries out. If is has been laid over voids, or as ‘dot and dab’, this is not so easily resolved.
