This certification aims to assess and validate the theoretical knowledge of installers, offering a unique way for individuals in the industry to showcase their skills beyond hands-on experience. Developed by well-regarded industry figures Gareth and Alan, the certificate is a response to the lack of formal opportunities for pavers to gain recognition for their technical expertise.

This program is intentionally challenging, demanding a high level of understanding and engagement with paving principles. The Certificate (Theory) includes 100 carefully crafted questions, each requiring thoughtful consideration and in-depth knowledge. Scored out of a total of 150 points, the assessment is tiered into three grades: Pass, Merit, and Distinction, offering varying levels of achievement that reflect the candidate’s dedication and mastery of the subject. The grading system encourages participants to aim for excellence while providing a valuable measure of their skill level within the industry.

The certification is open to anyone in the field of paving who is interested in earning a Continual Personal Development (CPD) credential, making it an ideal fit for installers who want to deepen their knowledge and bolster their professional profile. Unlike many skill-based tests, this theoretical certificate emphasises the importance of understanding best practices, regulations, and the broader principles that underpin successful paving projects.
